Financial Service Representative
Position: Financial
Service Representative
Department: Sales and
Marketing
FLSA Status: Full-time,
Non-exempt
Reports to: VP Sales and
Marketing
SUMMARY:
Assists Financial Services Officers in lien
filing, loan documentation, loan booking, and
credit reports. Assist members and Financial
Services Officers with member services, new
accounts, certificates, and IRAs.
DUTIES:
-
Promote Credit Union products and services based on
member needs as determined from member interviews.
-
Open new share accounts and certificates.
-
Assist members with Instant Issue ATM cards.
-
Process new account information including ordering
checks, verifying eligibility, checking for
appropriate signatures, filing cards, mailing
welcome letters, etc.
-
Type, laminate, and mail membership cards to
members.
-
Make corrections and refunds on accounts if
necessary.
-
Print starter or temporary checks for members.
-
Assist members with wire transactions.
-
Analyze and process consumer loan applications.
-
Ensure accurate processing of loans by making sure
that each one is properly documented, closed,
disbursed, coordinated, and filed.
-
File paperwork and files from branch offices.
-
Pull credit reports for all accounts, verify debts,
estimate monthly payments for any outstanding debts
not listed and add them to debts on application.
-
Mail loan application and/or information to members
and prospective members.
-
Review delinquency notices for accuracy and mail
them as appropriate.
-
Assist members with information as to the status of
pending loans.
-
Maintain knowledge of competitor’s rates, terms,
etc., as well as internal trends relating to
lending.
-
Explain reasons for denial and explore options for
members when loans are denied.
-
Look up NADA values and provide quotes to members.
-
Notify auto dealerships of any missing paperwork.
-
Prepare coupons for skip-a-pay when sold.
-
Counsel members on interest rates and cross-sell
services offered at the Credit Union.
-
Assist members in the completion of Individual
Retirement Account and Share Certificate
applications.
-
Assist members and loan coordinator in filing credit
disability and credit life insurance claims.
-
Assist members with discrepancies and complaints.
-
Assist members in closing accounts.
-
Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor,
informing him/her of all pertinent problems,
irregularities, new developments, changes, and other
important information within area of responsibility.
-
Ensure that all information and transactions
regarding Credit Union members are kept
confidential.
-
Greet members and guests to the Credit Union in a
professional and courteous manner.
-
Maintain current knowledge of Credit Union
philosophy, all Credit Unions services, and
policies.
-
Maintain a professional and courteous attitude with
all people, including fellow employees, members,
management staff, board members, and outside
vendors.
-
Cooperate with other department personnel to ensure
a “team effort” and prompt member service.
-
Enforce strict adherence to established security
procedures.
-
Maintain the security of the work area and ensure
that it presents an organized and neat appearance.
-
Participate in continuing education as approved by
supervisor.
-
Report to work on time and as scheduled.
-
Attend meetings as required.
-
Adhere to facility dress code.
These

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience in a position involving member service,
extensive public contact, and clerical office work.

High School diploma or the equivalent.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Strong analytical skills.

Ability to use a personal computer.
-
Knowledge of basic bookkeeping principles.
-
Ability to follow written and oral communications
and instructions.
-
Excellent telephone techniques and manners.
SPECIAL
FACTORS:

Requires being under constant pressure for absolute
accuracy within time limitations.

Requires working with disgruntled members and
frequent interruptions.
-
Ability to lift and/or carry up to 35 pounds.
-
Stooping; kneeling; crouching; and reaching below,
at, and over shoulder level required.

Sitting – 75%; standing and walking - 25%.

Hearing, visual, and verbal ability required.
