Our Mission Statement
We improve the quality of our member's lives by
delivering sound financial solutions.
Who can be a member of Billings Federal
Credit Union?
Anyone who lives, works, worships or attends
school in Yellowstone, Big Horn or Carbon
Counties, Montana is eligible to become a member
of Billings Federal Credit Union. Family members
of current members are also eligible.
Why the term “Member”?
Billings Federal Credit Union is a
not-for-profit financial cooperative. As a
cooperative, the members of the credit union,
the people who use its services, own the Credit
Union. At BFCU, you are more than just a
customer. You are a part owner of the financial
institution where you do business.
Why is this important?
Because BFCU is a not-for-profit cooperative,
owned by its membership, there are no
stockholders that must be paid from income.
Income from operations is returned to members
(the owners) in the form of lower rates on
loans, competitive rates on savings, fairly
priced services, and by investing in technology
and products that improve service to the
membership.
The Billings Federal Credit Union Board of
Directors is made up of volunteers from the
membership. All members are allowed to vote for
Directors at the Credit Union annual meeting.
A Bit of History
Billings Federal was established in 1935 as a
federally chartered Credit Union. In our 70-year
history we have continued to grow. In 1999 BFCU
was granted an amended charter allowing us to
serve people who live, work, attend school or
worship in Yellowstone, Big Horn or Carbon
Counties, Montana. In 2002 a Billings Federal
Credit Union office was opened in Billings West
End, followed by a Heights office in April of
2004.
Expect a Difference
One thing that has not changed in 70 years is
our commitment to service and providing sound
financial solutions for people who use Credit
Union services. Over the years, our members have
come to expect these things from Billings
Federal. As a member, you too can depend on a
full line of financial products and services,
competitive rates and low fees, and personal,
professional service from our staff.

you open an account, we will ask you for your
name, address, date of birth, and other
information that will allow us to identify you.
We may also ask to see your driver's license or
other identifying documents.
