At Billings Federal Credit Union, your security is our top priority. We’ve recently been made aware of scams targeting credit union members through text messages and phone calls. These messages often ask you to verify account transfers or provide sensitive credit or debit card information.
We want to remind you that we will never ask for sensitive information via unsolicited texts or calls.
Common Red Flags of a Scam:
-
Unexpected texts asking you to verify a money transfer or suspicious activity.
-
Calls demanding immediate action to “secure” your account.
-
Messages with urgent language or threats to close your account if you don’t respond.
-
Requests for personal or financial information, especially if you didn’t initiate the contact.
How to Protect Yourself:
-
Pause Before You Respond – Scammers often use urgency to pressure you. Take a moment to think before reacting.
-
Don’t Click Suspicious Links – If a message seems off, don’t open any attached links. They may lead to fake websites to install malware on your device.
